for those in the snow

After the crash. Whatever happened to?

You saw them crash and stretchered off at Sochi but what happened to the athletes that stacked?

Norwegian snowboarder Torstein Horgmo was the first to crash out of the Sochi Olympics during a slopestyle training session when he fell and broke his collarbone. He’s now back in Norway rehabbing.

instagram @torsteinhorgmo. Snapped my C-bone right here. It's been an amazing trip so far. The season is far from over and I'll be back on the shred in no time.. Thank you all for the insane support, I love u all! And thanks for the 📷👉 @karlyshorr

But Horgmo’s stack was only the beginning.

British halfpipe skier eighteen year old Rowan Cheshire fell hard on her face in the halfpipe during training in Sochi. She was knocked unconscious and stretchered off the course unable to compete in the event due to concussion.  After spending a night in hospital, Cheshire returned to the athlete village to support her fellow Team GB colleagues and returned to Britain after the closing ceremony.

Canadian ski slopestyle competitor Yuki Tsubota had the world holding their breathe during her spectacular fall during her second run in the finals at Sochi. She broke her jaw and suffered concussion. Tsubota is back in her home town of Whistler Blackcomb.

Snowboard slopestyle competitor Sarka Pancochova also crashed on the slopestyle run with another spectacular fall. She managed to ride back down with a helmet that had almost split in two.

Instagram @sarkasnow I guess I hit my head yesterday. Haha. Haven't gone down like this in a long time. But I'm all good that's everyone for they kind words.

Russian skier cross athlete and World Cup medalist, Maria Komissarova, experienced a horror crash in training on the Sochi skier cross course that resulted in a fracture and dislocation in her spine. She has since had two surgeries and can no longer feel anything from her belly button down. She is currently in hospital in Germany.

German ski cross racer Anna Woerner stacked on the mammoth skier cross course during competition and was stretchered off with a torn knee ligament and a fractured shin. She returned to Germany for surgery.

Woerner wasn’t the only one to be injured in skier cross competition. Chilean athlete Stephanie Joffroy crashed in her quarter final heat and was also stretchered off with a knee injury. She has returned to Chile and is looking to Korea in 2018.

Australian Cam Bolton broke his wrist and bloodied his face during the boarder cross semi finals. But it didn’t stop him from getting back up into the gates for the small final. That’s one tough cookie, right there. Bolton returned to Sydney for surgery where he is currently recuperating.
