for those in the snow

Russ in, Jossi out, Anna up

Aussie slopestyle athlete, Russ Henshaw suffers from nerves.  You wouldn’t know it with his rocking run in slopestyle at the Winter X Games where he qualified first for the finals.

“I hate the nerves involved” said Russ to Miss SIA after the first day of competition. “I’m really stoked with my result though.”  And so he should be. Mike Douglas claimed Russ is the ‘dark horse of the X Games’ and he may well be.

Kiwi, and AFP overall 2010 champ Jossi Wells has six months off due to injury in 2010 and his comeback at the X Games may have to now be in the Big Air after he failed to qualify for the slopestyle or superpipe finals.  He Tweeted “Well, I guess you cant take 6months off in this game and expect to come back without training and be the man… Missed finals by 1 spot.”

Kiwis can take solace in snowboarder Maria Kuzma’s second place at the Freeride World Tour Engadin St Moritz stop yesterday.

Next up? ‘Our’  Anna Segal in women’s slopestyle final as we type.  Watch it live

Postscript: Kaya Turski wins X Games women slopestyle, Keri Herman second, Grete Eliassen third.  Anna to now look towards the FIS Freestyle World Championships in Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort.
